Independent Careers Information, Advice and Guidance

Directions work with schools, academies and colleges to help inspire and raise the aspirations of their students.  We deliver high-quality, impartial & independent Careers Advice & Guidance which enables students to gain the skills required in order to make well informed decisions about their future.

Why use us

“Excellent careers guidance makes sure there is equality of opportunity. It unlocks potential and transforms outcomes for people of all ages.”
(Careers Strategy: Making the most of everyone’s skills and talents, December 2017).

The Government’s new Careers Strategy and the Gatsby Benchmarks aim to ensure high quality careers guidance is available for all students, when they need it. Directions is committed to supporting this by working with schools/academies, colleges and governing bodies to provide high quality, independent and impartial careers advice and guidance services.

We have established strong partnership links with employers, local and national education and training providers, Essex County Council’s Employability and Skills Unit along with the Children and Young People with Disabilities Service (CYPDS).

Quality Assurance

The Matrix Standard is a unique quality standard for organisations to assess and measure their advice and support services, which ultimately supports individuals in their choice of career, learning, work and life goals.

Directions is accredited with the Matrix Standard and continues to work towards not only maintaining, but improving on the quality service we deliver.  In 2023 after undergoing scrupulous assessment, Directions were re accredited for the 4th time.  For further information on this, please visit our NEWS page.
